Terms of use

The terms for using the Hada app and joinhada.com during the invite-only pilot.

About these terms

These terms are between you and Hada (operator's registered legal name to be confirmed) ("Hada", "we"). They apply to the Hada app and to joinhada.com, including shared links. By using them you agree to these terms and to the privacy notice.

Hada is in an invite-only pilot. These terms are a draft: a lawyer will review them before the live pilot and we will publish the reviewed version at this address.

What Hada does, and does not do

  • Hada gives a group one reusable bank account number for a shared expense. The account is a GTBank virtual account issued by Squad (HabariPay Limited), mapped to the group's verified organizer.
  • Hada records the payments that arrive and shows the group who has paid. The organizer decides which payment belongs to which member.
  • Hada is not a bank. It is not a wallet you can spend from, and it offers no cards, loans, savings, foreign exchange or bill payments.
  • Hada does not check what the money is spent on and cannot settle disputes between members and the organizer.
  • The account number exists for as long as the provider supports it. It is not a promise of a bank account in the group's name.

Who can use Hada

  • You must be at least 18 and have a Nigerian mobile number.
  • During the pilot you must be invited: organizers by Hada, members by their group's organizer.
  • Organizers must complete identity verification, including providing their BVN, before an account number is issued. Members and payers do not.
  • You must give true information about yourself. Verification uses the details registered to your BVN, and we cannot substitute or adjust them.

Your account and device

  • You sign in with your phone number and a code sent by SMS. Keep your phone and SIM safe; anyone with your code can act as you.
  • Do not share codes. Outside the one-time verification screen in the app, Hada never asks for your BVN, and it never asks for your sign-in code or a bank password by email, chat or phone.
  • If you sign in from a new device or lose your number, a verified organizer's account is limited until support confirms it is you. Sensitive actions and withdrawal changes pause during that time.
  • During the pilot each organizer may run one group, and a group cannot be handed over to someone else.

If you organize a group

  • You are responsible for the group: who is on the roster, what each person is expected to pay and by when.
  • When you publish a collection, the participants and amounts are frozen so everyone sees the same numbers. Later roster changes apply to future collections.
  • Match each payment honestly to the member who sent it, or leave it unmatched. Every match and correction is recorded with who did it and when.
  • You may withdraw money only to the bank account you verified in your own name (a GTBank account during the pilot). There is no other destination.
  • You decide what to share. A shared link shows account details and payment progress to anyone who has it, so share it only with people who should see it and revoke it when they should not.
  • What you owe your group, and what you do with the money after withdrawal, is between you and them.

Payments and money

  • Members and other payers transfer from their own bank apps. Hada does not take card payments and does not move money out of anyone's account.
  • Money paid into the group's account number is received by Squad into Hada's merchant account with them, and stays there until the organizer withdraws it (custody and settlement terms to be confirmed with Squad). It is not a wallet you can spend from.
  • A receipt is recorded only when Squad confirms that money arrived. Screenshots, messages and claims do not count.
  • If a bank reverses a transfer, the receipt is reduced by the reversed amount. If that money had already been withdrawn, no further withdrawals are possible until the shortfall is recovered, and the organizer may have to return the reversed amount (to be settled in legal review).
  • Payments that cannot be matched stay visible as unassigned until the organizer matches them. If money sent to the wrong group is still in the group's account when we hear about it, we place it on hold while we work with the provider on returning it; if it has already been withdrawn, we tell the organizer and help you contact them. We cannot promise a return or a timeline.
  • Withdrawals are started by the organizer and paid to their verified bank account (the payout route is to be confirmed with the provider). Only money the provider has cleared, and that is not on hold, can be withdrawn. Timing depends on the banks and is not guaranteed.
  • During the pilot we limit how much a group can collect and withdraw, and we may pause a withdrawal to investigate a mismatch, a reversal or a suspected wrong transfer.

Fees

  • Hada charges no fee during the pilot.
  • Banks and Squad may charge for transfers in or out. We show those charges item by item and deduct them from the money paid out; we add nothing on top.
  • SMS codes are Hada's cost, never the group's.

What you must not do

  • Collect money for anything unlawful, or for something other than what you told the group.
  • Pretend to be someone else, or verify with someone else's BVN or phone number.
  • Use a shared link to trick people into paying, or scrape, copy or republish a shared page.
  • Interfere with the app, the servers or the provider's systems, or try to get around limits or holds.

Pilot status and availability

Hada is a pilot. We may change, pause or stop features or the whole service, and we may end the pilot or your access to it. We give reasonable notice where we can, and we do not stop you withdrawing money you are entitled to. We do not promise that the service is always available or free of errors.

Ending your use of Hada

  • You can stop using Hada at any time. Organizers should close their collection, withdraw cleared money and revoke shared links first.
  • We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if the provider requires it, or to protect other users. Money on hold is released only against the provider's records.
  • Some records are kept after closure; the privacy notice explains which ones and for how long.

Our responsibility to you

To be settled in legal review. As a minimum: we run Hada with reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for the actions of banks or payment providers outside our control, for what members or organizers do with money, or for losses caused by someone using your phone or codes. Nothing here limits rights the law does not allow us to limit.

Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (to be confirmed in legal review). Questions and complaints: [email protected]. We reply within one working day.
